The difference between Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) can be sometimes confusing to parents and even professionals. However, SUID is a broad term that includes all sudden infant deaths. In many cases, these deaths were thought to have been caused by accidental suffocation and strangulation due to unsafe sleeping practices. The death of an infant is heartbreaking but creating a safe sleep environment can reduce the risk of SUIDS and SIDS.
