African American Mothers

Sometimes It Takes a Village to Raise a Child!

Sister Friends Tallahassee is a FREE program that connects pregnant African American women (Little Sisters) to female community volunteers (Sister Friends). Our volunteers are dedicated to providing culturally sensitive social support during pregnancy and postpartum.

Many soon-to-be mothers feel great responsibility during and after their pregnancies. From the physical changes to the emotional rollercoaster of hormones, pregnancy can bring up many unexpected challenges. It can lead a woman to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and unsupported. But you don’t have to feel this way, our Sister Friends are here to be with you at every step in your pregnancy and parenting journey!
