October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to honor the babies who left us too soon and to support the families who grieve their loss. This month is dedicated to breaking the silence, raising awareness, and fostering community for parents who often walk this journey quietly. By shining a light on the realities of pregnancy and infant loss, we create space for healing, remembrance, and compassion.
Key Facts About Pregnancy & Infant Loss
- 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss (March of Dimes, 2023).
- Each year in the U.S., approximately 24,000 babies are stillborn (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2023).
- More than 19,000 infants die before their first birthday each year in the U.S. (CDC, 2023).
- Pregnancy and infant loss impacts families of all backgrounds, and support networks are essential to their healing (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists [ACOG], 2020).
Together, we can raise awareness, support grieving families, and remember the lives gone too soon. To honor these little lives and bring our community together, Capital Area Healthy Start Coalition invites you to our Walk to Remember 2025.
