Littles to Leaders Initiative
In 2022, nearly half of the children entering kindergarten in Leon County did not demonstrate school readiness. Littles to Leaders is a partnership between Capital Area Healthy Start Coalition, Leon County Schools, Simply Healthcare Plans, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, and HCA Florida Capital Hospital to provide “brain bags” to every newborn baby in Leon County. These brain bags are filled with resources to aid in early childhood development and increase kindergarten readiness.
