Monica McDonald is the Community Liaison for Capital Area Healthy Start Coalition having joined the team April 2015. She is responsible for the Coalition’s public awareness efforts, community representation, and working with providers to ensure accurate prenatal and infant risk screenings.
Monica brings to the Coalition more than 10 years of communications experience with nonprofit, association, and state government agencies. Before coming to Capital Area Healthy Start, she was as an academic counselor at Florida A&M University (FAMU). Prior to that, she served as the communications and special projects coordinator with Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, a division of the Florida KidCare health insurance program.
She is a native of Tallahassee where she earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from FAMU and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Florida State University. In her free time she enjoys reading, watching movies, working out, and spending time with her favorite person—her son.
